Johnny Depp Laps Up Warm Reception for Pirates of the Caribbean
On Saturday night, the Cannes Film Festival took a rest from art-house fare to welcome the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to La Croisette. Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush all trod the red carpet at the premiere of the fourth film in the staggeringly successful fantasy series. Costing somewhere in the vicinity of $200 million (€141 million) to produce, the noisy, busy film, which involves a search for the fountain of youth, is the first of the series to be presented in 3D. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is on general release from Wednesday.
Hot Sexy Señorita Penelope Cruz
Sensual and erotic. Two words that best describe Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. Originally a dancer, she soon moved into Spanish television, and since then appeared in a string of films in Spanish, English, French, Italian, and Portuguese languages.
The 33-year old hot and sexy actress first achieved fame when she appeared in a music video for a Spanish synthpop group. She then became a television presenter and had early exposure in a French erotic tv serial, Serie Rose.
In 1992 came hot and sexy Penelope's film debut, appearing in Jamon, jamon and the Academy Award-winning foreign language film, Belle Epoque. She made her Hollywood debut in All the Pretty Horses in 2000 and had her first Hollywood lead role the same year in the fantasy romantic comedy, Woman on Top.
Penelope became the target of media tabloids in 2001 when she appeared in Vanilla Sky (a remake of her 1997 film Abre los ojos) and began a highly-publicized affair with Tom Cruise, which lasted for three years. The hot and sexy actress also dated her Sahara co-star Matthew McConaughey from 2005 to 2006. Currently, she is dating Spanish Academy Award-winning No Country for Old Men actor Javier Bardem, her co-star in the upcoming Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
In 2006, Penelope received highly favourable reviews when she starred in Volver. She won a Best Actress ensemble award at the Cannes Film Festival and has been nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and BAFTA Award. She holds the record for being the first Spanish actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
